The workshop will take place on Zoom and will include teaching, demonstrations, and practice times. You’ll be able to interact and ask questions in real-time.
About Your Trainer
My name is Marie. I live in Washington state, but I am originally from Sonoma County California, just north of San Francisco. I am married to Superman (aka Brian) and our blended family has four amazing humans we get to call our children.
I completed my bachelor’s degree at University of San Francisco in Information Systems Management in 2001. I did not go into my field of study because when I graduated, I was working for a nonprofit serving developmentally disabled adults through education, day programs, and work programs. I was the Director of Finance and served there for 12 years (I STILL cannot do math without a 10-key, PERIOD–never expect this of me).
That was a lifetime ago!
Since then, I went through a divorce, a whole lot of therapy, and around 2015, I switched careers to become a relationship coach, teaching couples ways to heal through effective communication. I guess all that therapy paid off, because somewhere in there I met and married Superman.
I’ve studied with Alison Armstrong (www.understandmen.com) since 2009 and became a licensed partner with her organization. I have trained as a facilitator in The Sedona Method, Safe Conversations (Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt), NVC (Nonviolent Communications), and SYMBIS. I have also been involved in Sidewalk Talk as a trainer and a City Leader.
After I completed my massage therapy certification last year (because one can never have too many certifications!) my husband sat me down and asked me “What IS the end game?”. I went on to list all the other trainings I wanted to do before I eventually got my master’s degree in MFT. He said “START THERE!”
Becoming a licensed therapist has been my dream since high school, and I am now enrolled at Northcentral University working on my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. My passion for helping people connect has been a driving force in my life. I hope this Safe Conversations workshop helps you connect more deeply in all your relationships.
